"ABORIGINAL LANDSCAPES" BY LANCE CARDINAL |
This is a sculpture I created at Emily Carr University. It is dealing with the recent land claim issues my Bigstone Cree Nation People are going through. The pieces fit together like a map and represent the different First Nations that make up OUR Indigenous Canadian borders. It is made from deer skin, elk skin and fox tail. The material was pretty difficult to use, but worth it in the end. The whole process took 12 hours non stop.

Then i put the pieces onto a lagre glass decanter i found in the basement of a kitchen store. After that I fit them all together like a puzzle and then began to sew. 12 hours later I was finished (and my hands were swollen for two days). The material took 5 days to dry, and cures in about two weeks.
